UGA Miracle & Children’s Patient Honored by UGA Athletics

Weekends in the fall mean one thing for the Harris Family – and that one thing is cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs! However, football isn’t the only thing the Harris Family loves about the University of Georgia. This Harris’s are a UGA Miracle Family, and look forward to attending UGA Miracle’s Dance Marathon every February.

Kylie Harris was just 3 years old when doctors at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta discovered a 2 ½ inch diameter tumor in her brain. Kylie underwent three separate craniotomies to remove the tumor, and also suffered from a stroke. However, with the help of her care team, Kylie began her healing process. Following these surgeries, Kylie spent time on the Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit as she began her journey to relearn to walk and talk.

Kylie and her family have found an incredible support group through UGA Miracle. Which is how they found themselves representing the student led organization on Dooley Field this past Saturday in Athens. Each Saturday this football season, UGA Athletics selects one student organization on campus to highlight prior to kickoff. Last Saturday, UGA Miracle was selected to be recognized. Kylie, along with her family and UGA Miracle student leaders, were able to experience UGA traditions like Dawg Walk from a brand new perspective!

Thank you, UGA Athletics, for presenting this wonderful opportunity to UGA Miracle and patient families like the Harris Family!
