Children’s Honors the Life and Legacy of MLK Jr. with Virtual Celebration
On Tuesday, January 19th the Chaplaincy Team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta hosted a virtual observance titled “Dreaming with the King: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day”. The service included musical tributes, prayer, poetry readings, and a clip from one of Dr. King’s speeches. The Chaplaincy team also encouraged employees to spend the holiday weekend in service to honor this great American leader’s life and teachings. Children’s partnered with organizations such as AmeriCorps to encourage employees to act on Dr. King’s teachings.
In addition to the virtual celebration, Children’s Diversity and Inclusion Council created a video compilation of members sharing what MLK Jr. Day means to them. In the video, a clinical nurse shares “To me, MLK Jr. Day serves as a reminder that no matter how unjust the world can seem, one person has the power to make an incredible difference”.
